Study Comparing Oxygenated Gel and Triamcinolone Acetonide Gel for Treating Oral Aphthous Ulcers

The trial investigates the use of oxygenated gel compared to Triamcinolone acetonide gel for treating patients with chronic aphthous stomatitis, a condition that causes painful oral ulcers. It is a randomized, double-blind clinical trial conducted by the British University In Egypt to evaluate the effectiveness of these topical treatments in managing aphthous ulcers. Participants are divided into two groups. One group applies 1-2 ml of oxygenated gel directly to the ulcer twice daily for seven days, with training provided on how to apply the gel. The other group uses Triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% oral paste four times daily at set times 8 am, 12 noon, 4 pm, and 8 pm for seven days. Both groups are reexamined at intervals on days 3, 5, 7, and 10 after starting treatment. During the study, participants will have their pain intensity, ulcer size, and healing progress monitored over ten days. Additional assessments include the Oral Health Impact Profile OHIP-14 questionnaire to capture the impact on quality of life. This approach allows researchers to compare the safety and efficacy of the two topical treatments in managing oral aphthous ulcers.
