Tracking Patient Outcomes After Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery at Galeazzi Orthopaedic Institute

Researchers are collecting data to understand outcomes for patients who have undergone hip or knee replacement surgery due to osteoarthritis. This observational registry gathers clinical information and patient-reported outcome measures PROMs to assess joint function, general health, and patient satisfaction over time. The study focuses on patients treated at the Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute and aims to monitor these outcomes for up to 10 years after surgery. Participants in this registry are patients who have had hip or knee arthroplasty for osteoarthritis. The study uses questionnaires such as the Knee injury Osteoarthritis Outcome Score KOOS-PS and Hip injury Osteoarthritis Outcome Score HOOS-PS to evaluate joint-specific function, as well as general health surveys like the Short Form health survey-12 SF-12 and Visual Analogue Scale VAS. Data collection occurs regularly from before surgery and continues through long-term follow-up. During the study, participants complete these standardized questionnaires to provide information on their joint function, overall health, and satisfaction with the procedure. Researchers use this information to measure outcomes from pre-operation through up to 10 years post-operation. The registry allows ongoing monitoring of prosthesis survival and patient health, helping to improve understanding of long-term results after hip and knee replacement.
