Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Men and women
- Age 20 to 59 years
- Body mass index (BMI) between 24.5 and 35.5 kg/m²
- Prediabetes with fasting blood glucose levels 100-125 mg/dL and/or HbA1c between 5.7% and 6.4%
- Ability to give consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Allergy to peanuts or peanut products
- Use of insulin, antidiabetic, antibiotics, or anti-inflammatory drugs
- Active cancer, gastrointestinal, renal, cardiovascular, thyroid, or neurological diseases or severe head injury
- Smoking
- Consuming more than 2 alcoholic drinks per day
- Taking antioxidant, probiotic, or prebiotic supplements
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Actively in a weight loss program
- MRI exclusions include neurological disorders like uncontrolled seizures and having metal in body such as braces, pacemakers, hearing aids, or certain metallic tattoos
