Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Chronic tinnitus patients with symptoms lasting 6 months or more
- No contraindications for fNIRS scanning
- Age between 20 and 55 years, any gender, right-handed
- External ear canal is clear and eardrum is intact
- Average hearing threshold in both ears is less than 35 dB
- Normal ability to express and understand language
- Healthy subjects have no tinnitus or hearing disorders
- Healthy subjects have no history of mental or nervous system diseases
- Healthy subjects meet the same age, ear health, and fNIRS criteria as patients
You will not qualify if you...
- History of drug dependence or alcohol addiction
- Serious central nervous system or other systemic diseases like cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease
- Organic brain diseases such as head trauma
- Sudden deafness, Meniere's disease, otosclerosis, acoustic neuroma, or other inner ear or auditory nerve diseases
- External or middle ear diseases such as otitis
- Auditory hypersensitivity
- Pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Metal implants that contraindicate fNIRS scanning
