Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Scheduled to undergo an autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant for any cancer or non-cancer illness
- Age 18 to 80 years
- Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS) greater than 80
- Able to read and write English
- Home deemed suitable to serve as a medical home within a 90-minute drive of Duke
- Identified primary caregiver who meets clinical criteria (able to drive and care for patient)
- Caregiver age 18 to 80 years
You will not qualify if you...
- No caregiver available
- Pregnant women
- Active infection prior to starting preparative regimen, including grade 3 or higher viral, bacterial, or fungal infection
- Use of homeopathic medications, prebiotics, or probiotics that may affect gut microbiota
- No caregiver exclusion criteria
