Physical Activity Targeting Metabolic Syndrome for Prevention of Breast Cancer in SAI Women
Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Self-identified first-generation South Asian Indian woman aged 40 to 65 years without breast cancer diagnosis
- Insufficiently active with less than 150 minutes per week of moderate or less than 75 minutes per week of vigorous physical activity in the past month
- Conversant in Hindi
- Owns a smartphone for using the Fitbit application
- Has a computer or mobile device with Internet access
- Willing to participate in recorded virtual intervention sessions
- Medical clearance if diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, or Type 2 diabetes with A1C greater than or equal to 9.0%, or A1C greater than or equal to 6.5% without prior diabetes diagnosis
- No disabilities preventing regular physical activity as determined by the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q & You)
You will not qualify if you...
- Major signs or symptoms of pulmonary or cardiovascular disease
- Unstable cardiac or pulmonary disease in the past month
- Other conditions interfering with walking as determined by the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q & You)
- Systolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 160 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 100 mmHg
