Pilot Study to Test the MiDialisis Mobile App for Patients on Peritoneal Dialysis Using Smart Devices

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating a mobile phone app called MiDialisis, designed to help people with chronic kidney disease who are on peritoneal dialysis PD. The study aims to see if the app is practical, easy to use, and well-accepted by patients and their caregivers. The app was developed by the Technical University of Madrid to collect and share clinical data, allowing both patients and doctors to access important health information anytime. Participants will receive a smartband, a smart scale, and the MiDialisis app. The smartband collects data on heart rate, sleep patterns, and physical activity, while the smart scale measures weight and body composition, sending this data to the app via Bluetooth. Patients will also enter daily blood pressure and dialysis-related data into the app. All devices and app usage occur during the studys intervention phase. Participants will use the MiDialisis app and devices for 8 weeks, during which adherence and app usage will be monitored. Researchers will assess satisfaction, usability, and quality of life through questionnaires and clinical evaluations up to 24 weeks from recruitment. Outcomes include in-person and telephone-based clinical care, unscheduled visits, sleep quality, physical activity, and overall health status. The study lasts approximately 24 weeks with multiple follow-up visits and assessments.
