Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Stroke survivors 3 to 8 months from a recent stroke
- Age between 50 and 80 years
- Unilateral hemiparesis
- Medical clearance by the Medical Director
- Height between 60 and 76 inches and weight below 220 pounds to fit the exoskeleton device
- Cognitive status and ability to communicate in English suitable for standard motor rehabilitation
- Adequate cognitive function to give informed consent and provide feedback
- Joint range of motion within normal functional limits for walking
- Sufficient strength to use assistive devices like a hemiwalker, cane, or walker while wearing the exoskeleton
- No injury or pathology on the unaffected limb
- Appropriate walking speed as determined by study staff
You will not qualify if you...
- Any medical condition preventing full weight-bearing or walking, such as orthopedic injuries, pain, or severe spasticity
- Skin conditions that prevent wearing the device
- Pre-existing conditions causing exercise intolerance like uncontrolled hypertension, coronary artery disease, cardiac arrhythmia, or congestive heart failure
- Hospitalization for heart attack, heart surgery, or acute heart failure within 3 months prior to enrollment
- Uncontrolled seizure disorder, spasticity, or joint contracture interfering with walking
- Neuromuscular, neurological, or orthopedic disorders limiting lower limb function, ambulation, or joint range of motion
