UPFs, rich in advanced glycation end products (AGEs), induce oxidative stress and inflammation, potentially worsening skin damage. This study aims to explore the potential role of UPF-derived compounds, especially AGEs, in the pathogenesis of pediatric AD.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Caucasian subjects, both sexes, aged 6 months to 10 years, with confirmed atopic dermatitis or healthy controls matched for age and sex
- Written informed consent obtained from participants and/or their parents or legal guardians
You will not qualify if you...
- Non-Caucasian ethnicity
- Age younger than 6 months or older than 10 years
- Presence of chronic conditions such as hypereosinophilic syndrome, fungal or viral infections, connective tissue disorders, autoimmune diseases, vasculitis, bullous dermatoses, drug hypersensitivity reactions, graft-versus-host disease, or monogenic disorders
- Scars, moles, or unusual skin lesions on both forearms
- Lack of written informed consent
