What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the potential of virtual reality combined with pain science education to reduce pain intensity in adults with primary chronic low back pain. The study also explores how virtual reality affects pain catastrophizing, fear of movement, and participants views on including virtual reality in their treatment plan. The study is divided into three phases baseline assessment, intervention, and post-intervention assessment. During baseline, participants complete questionnaires about their pain, fear, and disability, and receive a daily pain diary. The intervention lasts three weeks, with participants attending 6 to 10 sessions combining Pain Neuroscience Education and virtual reality using the Meta Quest 3S. Sessions last 30 to 45 minutes and occur three times per week. Participants return for a final visit on day 35 to complete the same questionnaires and return their diaries. Throughout the study, participants record daily pain intensity, fear of movement, and catastrophizing in their diaries. Researchers monitor changes in pain intensity, disability, fear, catastrophizing, knowledge about pain, and global perception of change to evaluate the treatments impact.
