Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patients older than 18 years of age diagnosed with benign or malignant colorectal diseases
- Undergoing elective open or video-assisted colectomy or proctectomy
- Surgery planned at the Hospital de Clinicas de Porto Alegre - Division of Coloproctology
You will not qualify if you...
- Age under 18 years
- Surgery classified as dirty
- Urgent or emergency surgery
- Undergoing multi-visceral resections such as pelvic exenteration or partial resection of adjacent organs
- Known allergy to iodine
