Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Unilateral lower limb amputation at the transfemoral level
- Current prosthesis wearer
- Able to walk at K2, K3, or K4 activity levels
- Aged between 18 and 70 years
- Mini-Mental State Exam score greater than 17
- Able to safely use a passive prosthesis
- Candidate for a myoelectric prosthesis capable of generating surface EMG signals
- Candidate for or has received osseo-integration surgery
- Candidate for or has received targeted muscle reinnervation surgery
You will not qualify if you...
- Unable to receive osseo-integration and targeted muscle reinnervation successfully
- Significant new injury preventing prosthesis use or daily activities
- Cognitive impairment affecting understanding, compliance, communication, or consent
- Visual impairment
- Proximal nerve injury preventing targeted muscle reinnervation
- Current smoker
- Presence of active implants
- Significant other health conditions preventing completion of the study or use of prostheses
