Age: 18Years +
All Genders

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Adult patients (over 18 years old)
  • American Society of Anesthesiologists status I or II
  • Undergoing elective maxillomandibular fixation surgery under general anesthesia with nasal endotracheal intubation
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Patient refusal to participate
  • Pregnant females
  • Body mass index less than 18.5 or 35 kg/m2 and above
  • Risk of aspiration
  • Cardiorespiratory disorders
  • Neuromuscular diseases
  • Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding
  • On chronic steroid therapy
  • Intubated patients or those intubated, or with an upper airway infection within 1 week prior to surgery
  • History of neck pathology, radiotherapy, or surgery
  • Difficulty obtaining laryngeal ultrasound due to neck wounds
