Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 18 years or older
- Diagnosis of acute kidney injury according to KDIGO 2012 criteria
- Need for continuous renal replacement therapy as determined by nephrologists and clinical practice
- Ability to provide informed consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Continuous renal replacement therapy already ongoing in a non-participating department at time of ICU admission
- Use of any renal replacement therapy within 14 days before enrollment
- Diagnosis of acute kidney disease, chronic kidney disease, or end-stage renal failure on admission
- CRRT discontinuation not following study criteria
- CRRT needed for reasons other than acute kidney injury (e.g., toxin removal)
- Pregnancy
- Known thyroid disease
- Continuous corticosteroid use
- Known cancer diagnosis
