Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Age 18 years or older
  • Diagnosis of acute kidney injury according to KDIGO 2012 criteria
  • Need for continuous renal replacement therapy as determined by nephrologists and clinical practice
  • Ability to provide informed consent
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Continuous renal replacement therapy already ongoing in a non-participating department at time of ICU admission
  • Use of any renal replacement therapy within 14 days before enrollment
  • Diagnosis of acute kidney disease, chronic kidney disease, or end-stage renal failure on admission
  • CRRT discontinuation not following study criteria
  • CRRT needed for reasons other than acute kidney injury (e.g., toxin removal)
  • Pregnancy
  • Known thyroid disease
  • Continuous corticosteroid use
  • Known cancer diagnosis
