You may qualify if you...
- Diagnosis of gastrointestinal tract cancer (esophagus, stomach, duodenum, pancreas, liver, biliary tract, small bowel, appendix, colon, rectum)
- Disease that can be removed by surgery
- Scheduled for surgery with curative intent
- Willing to participate and provide informed consent
- Receiving care at Hospital Universitario Mayor-Méderi
You will not qualify if you...
- Death before surgery
- Lost to follow-up
- Not undergoing surgery
- Emergency surgery cases
- Surgery due to cancer relapse or complications from previous procedures
- Treated only with endoscopic methods
- Second primary tumor without at least 5 years disease-free interval
- Baseline functional status scored 0/6 by Katz index
