Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Over 21 years old
- Regular consumer of kratom extract products from leading U.S. brands listed in the study
- Able to report specific kratom extract brand and typical dose amount
- Proficient in English
- Willing to provide requested samples of their current kratom extract product
You will not qualify if you...
- Experienced any acute or unexpected adverse health event from typical kratom dose within 30 days before screening
- Ever sought medical attention for an acute adverse event from any kratom product
- Unable or unwilling to provide unopened, clearly labeled kratom extract product samples
- Use of kratom extract products containing semi-synthetic or fully synthetic ingredients
- Currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- History or current diagnosis of psychotic disorder
- Current untreated bipolar disorder
- Current untreated major depressive disorder
- Physical dependence on alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids requiring medical intervention
- Use of fentanyl in the past month or positive fentanyl drug screen
- Discrepancies between self-reported substance use and drug screen results
- Any condition considered by the study team to increase risk or burden
