Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults 65 years and older who can give consent
- Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score between 19 and 23 indicating mild Alzheimer's Disease
- Approximately equal number of male and female participants
You will not qualify if you...
- Unable to give consent
- Presence of other neurological diseases
- Relevant psychiatric disorders such as major depression
- Gastrointestinal or metabolic conditions
- History of alcohol or substance dependence
- Use of systemic antibiotics in the past 6 months
- Use of corticosteroids
- Use of immune stimulating or immunosuppressive medications
- Use of probiotics in the past 6 months
- Immunosuppression
- Structural heart disease
- Neutropenia
- Radiation therapy
- Active intestinal disease
