Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Adults 65 years and older who can give consent
  • Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score between 19 and 23 indicating mild Alzheimer's Disease
  • Approximately equal number of male and female participants
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Unable to give consent
  • Presence of other neurological diseases
  • Relevant psychiatric disorders such as major depression
  • Gastrointestinal or metabolic conditions
  • History of alcohol or substance dependence
  • Use of systemic antibiotics in the past 6 months
  • Use of corticosteroids
  • Use of immune stimulating or immunosuppressive medications
  • Use of probiotics in the past 6 months
  • Immunosuppression
  • Structural heart disease
  • Neutropenia
  • Radiation therapy
  • Active intestinal disease
