What this Trial Is About
The worse prognosis observed in patients with Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) has not been fully understood. Poor prognosis may be related to other conditions (inflammation, infectious disease, cancers) further to cardiovascular disease. The aim of the study is to conduct the first prospective, observational and multi-centre cohort of patients with DFU in France, in order to evaluate the 5-years mortality rate, its causes and relevant prognostic determinants.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults with diabetes and diabetic foot ulcer defined as a foot skin ulceration or open lower-limb amputation wound measuring at least 5 mm in diameter, located below the malleolus, and caused by diabetic complications
- If previously amputated, the amputation stump wound is considered the main wound for inclusion
You will not qualify if you...
- Acute or chronic lower-limb ischemia without an open skin wound
- Foot infection without an open skin wound
- Any intercurrent disease that prevents participation in an observational study
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Under curatorship or guardianship
- Prisoners
- Currently participating in more than one other clinical study (interventional or observational, maximum 2 including this study)
- Currently in another study that interferes with standard care of diabetic foot
