What this Trial Is About

This research aims to evaluate how two blood-based inflammation markers, the systemic immune-inflammatory index SII and the systemic inflammation response index SIRI, relate to overweight and obesity. The study focuses on their diagnostic and prognostic value regarding obesity severity, metabolic complications, lifestyle habits, dietary patterns, and inflammation in adults with overweight or obesity. It seeks to understand if these markers can help predict metabolic risks and outcomes from obesity treatments. Participants will undergo detailed assessments including body measurements, blood tests for various biomarkers, and dietary evaluations. They will receive motivational counseling and follow-up visits at baseline, 12 weeks, and 24 weeks, with ongoing monitoring over a year. Treatments such as lifestyle changes, medications, or bariatric surgery will be followed but are chosen as part of routine care, not assigned by the study. During the study, participants will complete questionnaires on lifestyle and diet, and have multiple laboratory tests to track inflammation and metabolic health. Researchers will monitor changes in SII and SIRI and their associations with treatment responses and metabolic outcomes. The main goal is to understand the predictive value of these inflammation markers over an average of one year, with comprehensive data collection at several time points.
