There are three treatment conditions in this study: two different brief pain management trainings and one standard-length training. Short surveys will be required at seven different time points: before starting treatment, immediately after the pain-management training, and then 2, 6, 12, 24, and 36 weeks after the training.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Have a chronic musculoskeletal pain condition
- Average pain of 3 or higher in the past week
- Willingness to participate in study assessments and treatments
- Understand English instructions fluently
- Be 18 years of age or older
You will not qualify if you...
- Unable to consent due to physical or mental incapacity
- Prior formal mindfulness training (e.g., MBSR) or previous receipt of Empowered Relief
- Pain related to current cancer diagnosis or cancer treatment
- Unstable illness that may interfere with treatment
- Surgery within the past 3 months
- Received pain-relieving injections such as cortisone or hyaluronate within the past 3 months
