Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Hospitalized at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH)
- Meet DSM-5 criteria for moderate to severe Alcohol Use Disorder
- Had more than one heavy drinking day in the 30 days before hospitalization
- Willing to consider Medication for Alcohol Use Disorder (MAUD)
- Willing and able to be contacted for follow-up
- Provide written informed consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Received formal Alcohol Use Disorder treatment in the past 30 days (excluding mutual help groups)
- Meet DSM-5 criteria for untreated moderate to severe opioid use disorder
- Are pregnant, nursing, or trying to conceive (self-reported or confirmed by urine test)
- Have a life-threatening or unstable medical, surgical, or psychiatric condition preventing study participation
- Unable to provide contact information for at least one friend or family member
- Expect to be unable to return for follow-up assessments due to travel, incarceration, planned procedures, or other reasons
- Unable to understand English or Spanish
