Prospective Evaluation of Breast-Conserving Surgery Alone in Low-Risk Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS)
Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Female patient over 45 years of age with DCIS without microinvasion
- Tumor size 2.5 cm or less
- Treated by breast conserving surgery with clear resection margins of at least 2 mm, or no residual disease on re-excision
- Patients with anterior and posterior margins of at least 1 mm are eligible if dissection was confirmed to skin and fascia with no DCIS at inked margins
- Oncotype DX DCIS score predicting a 10-year risk of local recurrence of 10% or less
You will not qualify if you...
- Multifocal DCIS
- History of any invasive breast cancer or non-invasive breast cancer in the same breast
- Synchronous or previous invasive or non-invasive breast cancer
- Prior invasive cancer within the last 5 years, excluding non-melanoma skin cancers
- ECOG performance status 3 or higher
- Life expectancy less than 10 years
- Geographic inaccessibility for follow-up
