Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Histologically confirmed adenocarcinoma of the prostate from a prostate biopsy
- Clinically localized prostate cancer: stage T1-2, NX or N0, MX or M0
- No previous treatment for prostate cancer (including hormone therapy, radiation, surgery, or chemotherapy)
- ECOG Performance Status 0 or 1
- Patient has chosen Active Surveillance as the management plan
- Patient consented for research specimen collection
- Patient is accessible and compliant for follow-up
- Prostate cancer diagnosis not more than 3 years before baseline visit
- No more than two prostate biopsies including the initial diagnostic biopsy
- If diagnosis is more than 1 year before enrollment, two biopsies must be done including a subsequent biopsy possibly on baseline visit day
- Biopsies must have at least 10 cores
You will not qualify if you...
- Unwillingness or inability to undergo serial prostate biopsy
- History of other malignancies except adequately treated non-melanoma skin cancer, superficial bladder cancer (Ta), or other solid tumors treated curatively with no evidence of disease for more than 5 years
