Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Male aged 18 - 65 years
  • Had primary Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery between 1 and 10 years ago
  • Body weight stable within 5% over the last 3 months
  • Normal blood pressure or blood pressure controlled with medication
  • Provided informed consent to participate
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Current cancer diagnosis or active cancer within the past year
  • Any chronic or acute illness affecting amino acid absorption, metabolism, or requirements
  • Less than 40% excess weight loss after bariatric surgery
  • Weight regain greater than 20% of lowest weight after surgery
  • Diabetes defined by fasting glucose 67; 7.0 mmol or HbA1c less than 6.5%, or receiving diabetes treatment
