The purpose of this study is to adapt a counseling intervention called Meaning Centered Psychotherapy to make it culturally relevant for Latinos. Cancer affects patients and their loved ones. Latinos often experience greater challenges due to the cancer. However, few studies and interventions focus on Latinos. We are interested in understanding what affects Latino patients' quality of life, and how to improve it

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Diagnosed with stage III or IV solid tumor cancer (self-reported for ICCAN patients)
- Age 18 years or older
- Self-reported Latino/a or Hispanic ethnicity
- Fluent in oral Spanish, either monolingual or bilingual
- For qualitative phases, enrolled in quantitative phase and completed questionnaires
- Willing and able to be interviewed in Spanish only
- Agree to be audio-recorded
- For Phase 5 pilot study, score 4 or above on the Distress Thermometer
- Mental health providers for provider feedback phase must have a caseload of 5 or more Latino cancer patients per month and be able to communicate and read Spanish
You will not qualify if you...
- Presence of significant cognitive impairment (delirium or dementia) preventing informed consent or data collection
- Major disabling medical or psychiatric conditions that prevent informed consent, interview, or assessment completion (well-controlled psychiatric disorders allowed)
- Unable to understand the consent procedure
- Too ill to participate, as reported by the patient or investigator judgment
