RECOVERY is a randomised trial of treatments to prevent death in patients hospitalised with pneumonia. Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Hospitalised
- Pneumonia syndrome diagnosed by typical symptoms and objective evidence of acute lung disease
- Confirmed influenza A or B infection (with or without SARS-CoV-2 co-infection) or community-acquired pneumonia with planned antibiotic treatment
- No medical history that poses significant risk for trial participation as judged by attending clinician
- Previous participation in RECOVERY trial allowed if more than 6 months ago and not in the same treatment comparison
- In some locations, children under 18 years may be excluded to meet regulatory approvals
You will not qualify if you...
- Suspected or confirmed active pulmonary tuberculosis or Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia
- Patients being treated solely for fungal or viral pneumonia without planned antibiotic treatment
- Contraindications to specific treatments as determined by the attending clinician
- Patients lacking capacity with advanced directives or behavior clearly indicating non-participation
- Previous recruitment into the same randomized treatment comparison within 6 months
