Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults aged 18 to 65 years
- Body Mass Index greater than 35 with Type 2 Diabetes and/or Hypertension and/or Hyperlipidemia and/or Obstructive Sleep Apnea, or Body Mass Index greater than 40 with or without these conditions
- Undergoing primary sleeve gastrectomy
You will not qualify if you...
- Previous metabolic or bariatric surgery
- Prior use of GLP-1 agonist medications
- History of pancreatitis
- Personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2
- Secondary causes of obesity
- Any eating disorder
- Pregnancy or lactation
- History of acute coronary syndrome or myocardial infarction
- History of stroke
- Liver dysfunction with AST or ALT more than 3 times the upper limit of normal
- Kidney dysfunction with estimated glomerular filtration rate below 45 ml/min/1.73m2
- Active cancer
- History of diabetic retinopathy
- History of gastroparesis
