Assessment of Comfort, Symptom Relief, and Vision Effects of OTC Lubricating Eye Drops in Adults with Dry Eye Disease

Researchers are studying the effects of over-the-counter lubricating eye drops on comfort, symptoms, and vision in adults with dry eye disease DED. This Phase 4 randomized study aims to compare the tolerability and visual outcomes of different preservative-free eye drops in people who have experienced dry eye symptoms for at least six months. The study focuses on evaluating how these products impact patient-reported symptoms and ocular surface health. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive one of several preservative-free lubricating eye drops, including Blink Triple Care and Systane variants, administered multiple times daily, such as four times daily QID or twice daily BID, depending on the specific product. The study treatment period lasts at least 14 days, during which participants will use the assigned eye drops according to the specified dosing schedule. Treatments are compared to assess comfort and symptom relief. During the study, participants will attend scheduled visits to assess dry eye symptoms using the Ocular Surface Disease Index OSDI over 14 days. They will be monitored for symptoms, tolerability, and visual function throughout the treatment period. Researchers will collect information on symptom relief and safety to understand the effects of the lubricating eye drops. Total participation and follow-up extend through the treatment period up to study completion.
