RADIANT is a network of 14 clinical sites and several laboratories dedicated to the study of atypical diabetes. Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Diabetes type 2 diagnosed before puberty or in non-obese individuals
  • Early onset diabetes less than 18 years old or Mendelian inheritance pattern
  • Syndromic diabetes involving multiple systems
  • Lipodystrophic features
  • Extreme body mass index (BMI) values
  • Mitochondrial-related symptoms such as myopathy or hearing deficits
  • Non-progressive diabetes
  • Rapidly progressive or "fulminant" diabetes
  • Low insulin requirements less than 0.5 units/kg/day
  • Cyclical hyperglycemia with remission periods
  • Lean persons with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
  • History of gestational diabetes when lean
  • Lean individuals with insulin resistance
  • Participants with specific islet autoantibody and beta-cell function profiles as described
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • High likelihood of typical type 1 or type 2 diabetes, known monogenic or secondary diabetes
  • Refusal to consent for genetic testing
  • Positive islet autoantibody test unless accompanied by atypical features or strong family history
  • Women who are currently pregnant
