Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Arrival to the hospital within 6 hours of injury
- Age 18 years or older
- Diagnosis of traumatic brain injury defined as any alteration or loss of consciousness with or without positive head CT findings
You will not qualify if you...
- Non-survivable traumatic brain injury
- Brain dead on arrival
- Active opiate or cocaine substance abuse as indicated by admission toxicology
- Thoracic or abdominal injury requiring open surgical intervention
- Pregnancy
- Prisoner status
- Active military service
- Non-English speaking
- Age greater than 89 years
