Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Arrival to the hospital within 6 hours of injury
  • Age 18 years or older
  • Diagnosis of traumatic brain injury defined as any alteration or loss of consciousness with or without positive head CT findings
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Non-survivable traumatic brain injury
  • Brain dead on arrival
  • Active opiate or cocaine substance abuse as indicated by admission toxicology
  • Thoracic or abdominal injury requiring open surgical intervention
  • Pregnancy
  • Prisoner status
  • Active military service
  • Non-English speaking
  • Age greater than 89 years
