Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Newly diagnosed, untreated, non-distant metastatic, non-keratinizing nasopharyngeal carcinoma
- Aged between 18 and 70 years
- Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance score of 0-1
- Adequate hematologic function: neutrophil count 65 1.5 �D7 10^9/L, platelet count 65100 �D7 10^9/L, hemoglobin 65 90 g/L
- Adequate renal function: creatinine 64 1.5 times upper limit of normal or creatinine clearance 65 60 mL/min (Cockcroft-Gault formula)
- Adequate hepatic function: serum bilirubin 64 2.0 times upper limit of normal, alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase 64 2.5 times upper limit of normal
You will not qualify if you...
- Previous chemotherapy, surgery (except diagnostic), or radiotherapy to the neck or nasopharyngeal regions
- Previous malignancy except cured basal cell carcinoma or carcinoma in situ of the cervix
- Pregnancy or lactation
- Severe coexisting illness
