Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Participants must identify as Black race or Hispanic ethnicity
  • Participants must be male or female 18 years of age or older
  • Participants must have a BMI greater than 30 kg/m2 measured by study staff
  • Participants must have access to and be willing to use the food intake app via a home computer or smartphone
  • Participants must be able to identify at least one adult social network member who will participate in the study
  • Social network members must be male or female 18 years of age or older
  • Social network members must have access to the internet or a smartphone
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Participants currently enrolled in a weight-loss program, using weight-loss medications, or planning weight-loss surgery
  • Participants with advanced medical illness, dementia, hospitalization, injury, or pregnancy that prevents regular physical activity
  • Participants with contraindications to exercise based on the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire or without clearance from a healthcare provider
  • Participants with unresolved food insecurity
  • Participants who speak a language other than English or Spanish
  • Social network members who speak a language other than English or Spanish
