What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH), a common condition treated by neurologists and neurosurgeons, to better understand how the disease progresses and how patients are cared for. This observational study aims to describe the characteristics of patients at diagnosis, the treatments they receive, and their outcomes, including functional ability, cognitive health, and neurological status. The study gathers important information to help improve future guidelines and care practices. Participants will receive their usual standard treatment for CSDH without any changes or experimental interventions. The study is prospective and observational, involving multiple centers and including all adult patients diagnosed with CSDH. There are no additional treatments or procedures beyond standard care. Participants will take part in a brief telephone interview about three months after their diagnosis and treatment, lasting approximately 10 minutes. Researchers will assess functional outcomes using the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score at 3 months, along with other measures such as recurrence, mortality, complications, hospital stay length, neurological status, and cognitive function. Participation involves minimal risk and burden, focusing on collecting data to improve future patient care.
