Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Age 75 years or older.
  • Classified as frail according to the Fried frailty phenotype.
  • Scheduled for first-time, posterior short-segment (1-2 levels) lumbar instrumented fusion surgery.
  • Willing and able to provide written informed consent and complete the 2-year follow-up.
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • History of previous lumbar spine surgery.
  • Lumbar problems caused by tumor, trauma, infection, or congenital deformity.
  • Severe health conditions affecting prognosis or ability to participate, such as severe cardiopulmonary disease or advanced dementia.
