Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 75 years or older.
- Classified as frail according to the Fried frailty phenotype.
- Scheduled for first-time, posterior short-segment (1-2 levels) lumbar instrumented fusion surgery.
- Willing and able to provide written informed consent and complete the 2-year follow-up.
You will not qualify if you...
- History of previous lumbar spine surgery.
- Lumbar problems caused by tumor, trauma, infection, or congenital deformity.
- Severe health conditions affecting prognosis or ability to participate, such as severe cardiopulmonary disease or advanced dementia.
