Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 218 years or older
- Biopsy-proven upper gastrointestinal cancer, stage III or IV
- ECOG performance status of 0 or 1
- Planned chemotherapy treatment with return to Moffitt Cancer Center for restaging
- Able to read and speak English fluently
- Able to provide informed consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Regularly engaging in resistance training twice a week targeting all major muscle groups
- Screen failure for exercise safety based on Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) and PROMIS screening
- Unstable cardiac or pulmonary disease or symptomatic cardiac disease (New York Heart Association class III or IV)
- Recent fracture or acute musculoskeletal injury preventing participation in resistance training
- Pain rated 7 or higher on a numeric pain scale
- Myopathic or rheumatologic disease affecting physical function
