Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Healthy adults aged 18 or older residing in the United States
- Participants of the Shoonya meditation program or eligible individuals who can travel to Boston
- For nap group: healthy adults aged 18 or older residing in the United States who nap regularly at least 3 times a week and do not meditate regularly
You will not qualify if you...
- History of neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, brain tumors, brain surgery, or multiple sclerosis
- History of psychiatric disorders in the last 5 years including anxiety, psychosis, PTSD, or ADHD
- Current use of cognition enhancing medications
- Active history of alcohol or drug abuse in the last 5 years (more than 10 drinks per week)
- History of stroke or aneurysm in the last 5 years
- Seizures within the last 3 months
- Age 60 years or older
- History of heart attack with ejection fraction less than or equal to 30%
- Pregnancy
- Non-English speaking
- History or diagnosis of any sleep disorder
- Consumption of 3 or more cups of coffee daily
- Previous learning of Shoonya meditation (for meditator groups)
