Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Recent (about 3 months) doctor-documented diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or related dementias (ADRD)
- Onset of dementia symptoms after age 65
- Early stage dementia as shown by specific cognitive assessment scores (Clinical Dementia Rating Scale scores of 0.5 or 1.0)
- Person with dementia is aware of their problems and can understand study procedures, confirmed by a standard teach-back test
- Both participants are English-speaking adults aged 18 or older
- The couple lives together
- At least one partner has clinically significant emotional distress based on screening questionnaires
You will not qualify if you...
- Patient deemed unsuitable for the study by the neurology team
- Either partner has a co-occurring terminal illness
- Patient diagnosed with certain types of dementia that prevent participation (e.g., behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia) as determined by the treatment team
