Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults age 18-65
- Have periods of good and bad moods each lasting at least 2 days
You will not qualify if you...
- Refusal or inability to provide informed consent
- Currently in frank psychotic episodes or unable to stay off psychoactive substances during assessments
- Bipolar I disorder with current or apparent manic state at baseline
- Inability to complete questionnaires written in English
- Chronic pain that could be worsened by electrical stimulation
- Difficulties in corrected vision or hearing preventing processing of experimental stimuli
- North American Adult Reading Test (NAART) equivalent full scale IQ less than 85
- History of convulsive disorder
- Neurologic disorder or medication therapy known to lower seizure threshold
- Deemed not a good fit for the study for other behavioral or safety reasons
- Heart condition
- Current severe DSM-V alcohol or substance use disorder (except nicotine or caffeine)
- Metal implants near stimulated areas or electrical implants like pacemakers or vagus nerve stimulators
- Any metal implant or subcutaneous metal in the face or head
