Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Age 18 years or older
  • Overweight or obesity with BMI 25 kg/m2 or higher
  • Diagnosis of type 2 diabetes with HbA1c greater than 53 mmol/mol
  • Habitual eating window of 12 hours or more per day including food, snacks, and calorie-containing beverages
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • History of or planned bariatric surgery during the study
  • Use of fast acting insulin or combination insulin products
  • Regular use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)
  • Desire to observe Ramadan fasting
  • Current or planned pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Alcohol or drug abuse or treatment with disulfiram
  • Severe hypoglycaemia in the past year requiring external help
  • Inability to understand Danish language
  • Unable or unwilling to follow the time-restricted eating plan
  • Medical conditions that limit participation including severe heart, lung, vascular, cancer, psychiatric, gastrointestinal, rheumatic, or endocrine diseases
  • Participation in other intervention studies
  • Severe vision or hearing impairment affecting neuropsychological testing
  • Contraindications to MRI or unwillingness to receive MRI incidental findings (for sub-study participants)
