Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Age over 18 years
  • Open angle in gonioscopy (grade 3 or 4 in Shaffer classification)
  • Refractive error within +3.00 to -8.00 diopters
  • Best-corrected visual acuity 20/25 or better
  • Participants in one of three groups: Early glaucoma with visual field defects on one side, pre-perimetric glaucoma with optic nerve damage but no visual field loss, or control subjects with no family history of glaucoma and normal ocular exams
  • Early glaucoma subjects must be off glaucoma medications for 4 weeks
  • Control subjects age matched to early glaucoma subjects
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Corneal abnormalities or other conditions preventing reliable eye pressure measurement
  • Retinal diseases affecting nerve fiber layer thickness
  • Secondary glaucoma
  • Prior ocular surgery except uncomplicated cataract surgery or laser trabeculoplasty
  • Unable to safely stop glaucoma medications for 4 weeks
  • Unable to obtain OCT angiography due to eye movement or fixation issues
  • Unreliable visual field tests
  • History of smoking in past 6 months
  • Cataract with lens opacity classification system Grade 2 or higher
  • Diagnosis of diabetes, hypertension, or other vascular disorders such as vasculitis
