AI-Summary

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are conducting a prospective observational study to collect standardized clinical, radiological, and pathological data from patients with primary retroperitoneal sarcoma (RPS) treated with surgery at specialized centers. This study aims to evaluate patient outcomes such as overall survival, disease-free survival, local recurrence, and distant metastasis. RPS is a rare type of tumor located in the retroperitoneal space, with several histological subtypes that influence prognosis and treatment responses. Eligible patients undergo surgical treatment according to current standards, with data collected on tumor characteristics, treatments, and follow-up findings. Radiological exams like contrast-enhanced CT or MRI scans are performed before surgery. The study tracks the use and impact of multimodal therapies including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Follow-up includes clinical evaluation and imaging every 4 months for the first 2 years, every 6 months until year 5, and yearly thereafter. Data and pathological samples are stored at participating centers and shared in a deidentified manner to maintain confidentiality. Participants provide informed consent and are monitored over time with scheduled visits and imaging to assess disease status and treatment effects. Researchers measure outcomes including 10-year disease-free survival, overall survival, and incidence of local recurrence and distant metastasis. Patient compliance with follow-up is required. The study is ongoing with no fixed end date and aims to include approximately 400 patients per year, contributing to high-quality prospective data on this rare disease.
