Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Lean with BMI less than 25 kg/m2
- Normal insulin sensitivity based on fasting glucose and insulin levels
- Aged between 18 and 79 years
- Blood pressure below 140 mmHg systolic and 90 mmHg diastolic
- Stable weight within plus or minus 5 pounds for the past 3 months
- Willing and able to stop vitamin C, vitamin E, and omega-3 supplements at least 2 weeks before the study
- Able and willing to provide written informed consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Diabetes mellitus Type I or II with fasting glucose 126 mg/dL or higher and/or HbA1c 6.5% or higher
- Current smoker or smoked in the past 3 months
- Hyperlipidemia with fasting triglycerides 250 mg/dL or higher
- Hypertension with blood pressure above 130/80 mmHg
- History of heart disease including myocardial infarction, stent, heart attack, stroke, heart failure, valvular heart disease, or cardiomyopathy
- History of vascular disease such as bypass surgery or stroke
