What this Trial Is About

Researchers are investigating how coronary artery disease develops and progresses in young adults aged 45 years or younger. This nationwide study in China aims to collect detailed health information from about 10,000 participants who have coronary CT scans at several hospitals. The goal is to better understand risk factors for disease progression and create models to predict future coronary plaque growth and cardiovascular events. Participants will have a baseline coronary CT scan and provide information on health, cardiovascular risks, blood tests, medication use, lifestyle habits, and genetic data when available. After several years, follow-up coronary CT scans will be done to assess changes in coronary artery plaque and disease progression. This observational study does not involve any treatment interventions. During the study, participants will undergo health assessments and coronary CT scans at enrollment and follow-up visits, up to 3 years later. Researchers will measure the progression of coronary plaque using computed tomography and analyze clinical data to identify factors linked to disease advancement. The study is sponsored by Fu Wai Hospital in Beijing and aims to improve early prevention and risk assessment for young adults with coronary artery disease.
