Observational Study Evaluating Risk of Cardiovascular Events Using GDF-15 in Heart Failure and Coronary Artery Disease Patients Undergoing CABG

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are conducting a multicenter, observational study called PROFILE-HF to examine the clinical outcomes of patients with chronic heart failure HF and coronary artery disease CAD who undergo coronary artery bypass grafting CABG. The study aims to develop a method to assess the risk of adverse cardiovascular events in these patients based on preoperative GDF-15 blood levels. Participants include those with documented HF and CAD recommended for CABG by their cardiac team. Before surgery, blood samples will be collected from each participant to measure GDF-15 levels. These samples are processed and stored under controlled conditions for later laboratory analysis. The study follows patients for 12 months after surgery to observe clinical outcomes, with one planned in-person visit at the end of this period. If participants cannot attend in person, information will be gathered via telephone from the patient or a caregiver. During the 12-month follow-up, researchers will collect medical data adhering to established care standards for CAD patients. They will measure outcomes such as time to the first adverse cardiovascular event, cardiovascular death rates, all-cause mortality, heart failure hospitalizations, acute ischemic events, and composite secondary endpoints. The study is sponsored by the Tomsk National Research Medical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
