Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age >18 years
- Patients with first episode of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), defined by European Society of Cardiology 2017 guidelines
- Indication for percutaneous revascularization treatment (PCI)
- Provided informed consent to enroll in the study
You will not qualify if you...
- Severe valve disease or other conditions requiring cardiac surgery
- Previous cardiac surgery including coronary artery bypass grafts
- Total chronic occlusions
- Known hypersensitivity or contraindication to heparin, aspirin, clopidogrel, ticlopidine, sirolimus, or everolimus
- Contraindication to drug-eluting stent implantation
- Documented history of myocardial infarction
- Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) less than 30% before PCI
- Cardiogenic shock
- Advanced ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (>48 hours from symptom onset or Q waves on ECG) or undergoing fibrinolysis
- Prior known cardiomyopathy with LVEF less than 40%
- Malignant neoplasm or systemic disease with life expectancy under 1 year
- Active infectious diseases
- Unable to provide valid informed consent
- Pregnant women
