Comparing Robotically Assisted and Custom Made Total Knee Replacement in Adults with Knee Osteoarthritis

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are comparing two types of total knee replacement implants for patients with knee osteoarthritis a functionally aligned robotically assisted implant and a patient-specific custom made implant. The study aims to determine which approach leads to better clinical outcomes, higher patient satisfaction, and more efficient operating room use. Participants will be followed for two years after their surgery to monitor these factors. The trial involves two groups receiving different knee implants. One group will receive a custom made total knee replacement called Origin, while the other group will receive a Triathlon implant placed using the MAKO Rio Robotic Arm with a functional alignment strategy. The surgeries will be performed according to these protocols, and participants will be monitored during the perioperative phase and afterwards. Participants will be evaluated through clinical assessments using the Forgotten Joint Score at intervals ranging from 6 weeks to 24 months after surgery. Additional measures including pain scales, patient satisfaction, range of motion, radiographic analysis, opioid use, physiotherapy sessions, and revision rates will also be tracked. The study includes preoperative and postoperative clinical and radiographic evaluations to comprehensively assess outcomes and safety over the two-year follow-up period.
