The Role of Elastic Power in Predicting the Severity and Mortality in Adult Patients With ARDS Due to Pneumonia
Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age from 18 to 65 years (male or female)
- Diagnosis of ARDS as per Berlin definition
- Admitted to ICU and intubated
- Mechanical ventilation for more than 48 hours
- Acute onset within 1 week of known clinical insult or worsening respiratory symptoms
- Respiratory failure not due to hydrostatic edema
- Bilateral opacities on chest radiograph not explained by other causes
- PaO2/FiO2 ratio less than 300 mmHg with at least 5 cm H2O PEEP or continuous positive airway pressure
- Classification of ARDS severity as mild, moderate, or severe according to Berlin criteria
You will not qualify if you...
- Not intubated in ICU
- Receiving non-invasive ventilation
- Younger than 18 years or older than 65 years
- Open chest wall trauma
- Requirement for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)
- Increased intra-abdominal pressure affecting ventilator measurements
