What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the ability of Spectral CT scans, used with a contrast agent during regular cancer follow-ups, to detect early signs of heart damage caused by anthracycline drugs in patients with Hodgkin's lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. The study focuses on identifying acute and chronic heart toxicity that can occur soon after or within a year of treatment. Anthracyclines, while effective for cancer treatment, can cause heart problems ranging from mild changes to serious conditions like heart failure, making early detection critical. Spectral CT provides advanced imaging details such as iodine maps and tissue characteristics that help identify and measure heart tissue changes like swelling, increased blood flow, and scarring. This method is compared to cardiac MRI, which is currently the standard but has limitations like longer scan times and higher costs. Spectral CT could offer a faster, more accessible way to monitor both cancer and related heart damage using the same imaging session. Participants will undergo Spectral CT scans as part of their routine cancer follow-ups to assess heart tissue health. Researchers will analyze these images to detect early heart damage, focusing on myocardial injury measured 36 months after starting chemotherapy. The study monitors participants over time to evaluate the effectiveness of Spectral CT in identifying heart toxicity and supports timely heart-protective treatments if needed.
