Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults aged 35 to 65 years
- Non-diabetic adults with HbA1c less than 5.7%
- Body mass index (BMI) between 25 and 30 kg/m2
- Able to adhere to study requirements and willing to comply with study procedures
- Provide consent to participate
- Willing to limit or minimize intake of high-fiber and high-carbohydrate foods
- Avoid non-prescription medications or nutritional supplements that influence glycemic response during the study
You will not qualify if you...
- Weight change exceeding 5% in past 3 months or participation in weight loss/gain programs
- Use of medications that alter metabolism, such as weight loss, anti-hypertensive, or lipid-lowering drugs
- Presence of chronic metabolic diseases including diabetes
- Use of supplements other than a daily multivitamin
- Pregnant or lactating women
- Use of tobacco products
- Unwillingness to limit high-fiber and high-carb foods
- Excessive alcohol consumption (more than two drinks/day for men, more than one drink/day for women)
- Recent or planned changes in medications or supplements affecting glycemic response
- Inability or unwillingness to maintain current regimen of medications and supplements without consulting study coordinator
