What this Trial Is About
The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the levels of Ribonucleic acid (RNA) circulating molecules, including ones in extracellular vesicles from different organs in the blood and in the saliva of patients with Acute Decompensated Heart Failure (ADHF) and Chronic Heart Failure (CHF) to see if a new, non-invasive diagnostic test can be developed for heart failure exacerbation.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- At least 18 years of age
- For chronic heart failure: stable disease of any type, NYHA class II, III, or IV, with NT-proBNP levels 600 pg/ml if LVEF 30%, 1000 pg/ml if LVEF 31-35%, or 2500 pg/ml if LVEF >35%
- For acute decompensated heart failure: at least 18 years old with clinical signs or symptoms and elevated BNP or pro-BNP levels, or clinical evidence of congestion, and clinical response to IV diuretic therapy
- For control group: at least 18 years old and will have undergone or will undergo an electrophysiology procedure in the EP lab
You will not qualify if you...
- Active pregnancy or lactation
- Cardiac amyloidosis
- Active malignancies
